Project Description

Seattle City Light crews will be trenching and shoring at the intersection of Boren Avenue and Union Street, and along the North side of Union Street heading East from the intersection.

Project Update (August 2023): This project has been completed.

Community Benefits

  • Increased electrical grid reliability by upgrading equipment.
  • The upgraded equipment will decrease unplanned outages.
  • The new equipment will allow for quicker repairs when needed.

Anticipated Impacts

  • There will be road closures along Union Street and Boren Avenue.
  • Due to the heavy equipment used to trench and shore, customers can expect noise impacts during the day.
  • All building accesses will remain open for the duration of the project.
  • Construction signage and traffic control flaggers will redirect pedestrians and vehicles where needed.


Beginning in mid-March and will continue for four months.
