Resource Management
The Resource Management Division includes the Fire Alarm Center, Services, Training and Safety.
Fire Alarm Center
Since the department’s creation in 1890, the Fire Alarm Center has been receiving alarms from the public, dispatching resources and monitoring their status, along with providing a focal point for departmental communications.
Services
Services provides the department with the equipment, vehicles and tools needed to perform their duties.
Training
Training Division is responsible for the training of all members of the department, from new recruits to officer academies and annual company requirements.
Safety
The department's Safety Chiefs report directly to the department's Assistant Chief of Resource Management.
The Safety Officers are responsible for:
- Coordinating safety evaluations of new firefighting equipment before it is purchased
- Responding to all types of incidents including fires, hazardous material responses, marine incidents, etc., and providing for the overall safety of personnel on the scene.
- Investigating all accidents and occupational injuries involving personnel.
- Performing safety inspections of department facilities.
