Community Fire Safety Advocate Program
The Community Fire Safety Advocate (CFSA) program was developed to effectively meet the specific fire safety needs of Seattle’s immigrant and refugee communities. Initiated after a tragic fire in 2010, this program has expanded to provide fire prevention education and hands-only CPR across Seattle
The Community Fire Safety Advocates (CFSAs) are trained community members who provide cultural and linguistic relevant education and outreach to all Seattle communities.
The CFSAs participate in community outreach events and conduct fire safety presentations in English, Chinese, Khmer, Lao, Vietnamese, Thai, Spanish, Oromo, Somali, Amharic and Tigrinya.
Participants learn:
- The real dangers of fire
- The most common home fire and life safety hazards
- How to respond properly to a home fire
- Calling 911 for emergencies
