About Us
Overview
Welcome to the Seattle Human Services Department (HSD), where we're committed to enhancing the well-being of Seattle residents through strategic partnerships and resource delivery. With about 400 professionals and a $300 million annual budget, our efforts are centered around:
- Funding the largest contribution to Seattle's safety net: We invest in community organizations and programs that support strong and healthy communities.
- Convening policymakers and thought leaders: We bring together leaders from various sectors and communities to engage in dialogue, share best practices, and develop solutions to complex human service challenges.
- Providing direct services: We provide direct services to the community through programs and services that empower individuals and communities to reach their full potential.
Our work is structured around four main divisions:
- Aging and Disability Services (ADS): We offer support for seniors and people with disabilities, including acting as the Area Agency on Aging for Seattle and King County.
- Leadership and Administrative Division (LAD): Provides essential leadership, administrative, and financial management support.
- Safe and Thriving Communities (STC): Focuses on ending homelessness and enhancing public safety.
- Youth and Family Empowerment (YFE): Promotes the development of youth and families through various programs and services.
Together, we're dedicated to investing in community-driven strategies, fostering service innovation, and advancing racial equity.
