Two women side-hugging and laughing in a p-patch garden laden with red poppy blossoms and lush foliage

The Seattle Department of Neighborhoods’ (DON) P-Patch Community Gardening Program is proposing changes to its Code of Conduct in the form of a Director’s Rule. Seattle Municipal Code (SMC) Section 3.35.040.D authorizes the DON Director to promulgate rules and regulations to carry out departmental activities pursuant to SMC Chapter 3.02.

The P-Patch Code of Conduct was last updated in 2010 by DON Director’s Rule 1-2010.  The new, proposed Director’s Rule would supersede DON Director’s Rule 1-2010, add language prohibiting open flames and burning activity in P-Patches, incorporate updates to the P-Patch Program’s Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy, and make formatting changes.

Written comments regarding the content of the draft Director’s Rule may be submitted until 5:00 p.m. on May 18 to Kenya Fredie at the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods, P.O. Box 94649, Seattle WA 98124, or by email at
