Dearborn Park Play Area Renovation

Updated: May 11, 2023

Spring 2023

This project was advertised on April 26, 2023 and is currently out to bid. We anticipate construction to occur from summer 2023 through the fall. A more detailed project timeline will be shared once a Contractor has been selected.

We heard a preference for nature play, a stronger connection to the surrounding wooded area, and the need to create a safer environment. Based on this, we developed the following concepts.

Location

Dearborn Park: 2919 S Brandon Street, 98108

Budget

The Real Estate Excise Tax fund provides $557,000 for planning, design, and construction of the project.

Schedule

Planning & Design: Spring 2020 - Spring 2023
Construction: Summer 2023

Project Description

This project replaces the play equipment with equipment that is accessible to children of all abilities. Additionally, site accessibility improvements that meet the standards from the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) will be made.

During construction the contractor will need to close the play area portion of the park. Seattle Parks and Recreation and the contractor hired for the project will work to minimize impact to the neighborhood.
