Alert for Friday, 8/20/21: Hygiene showers closed today and through aproximately 8/29 at Delridge Community Center.

Built in 1992, Delridge Community Center opens up to a lush, green playfield in West Seattle's diverse north Delridge neighborhood, within walking distance of the West Seattle Golf Course and Camp Long. The lobby acts as a gathering space and entertainment room, with ample seating, a flat screen TV, as well as ping pong and foosball. Just opposite the lobby is the preschool room, and nearby is the Rec Tech Room that houses 12 computers for public use. The center also has a teen room, dance/multipurpose room, kitchen, fitness room, child care room and a full-sized gym with a basketball court and four shower rooms. Art installations created by teens and other artwork are visible both inside and outside the facility.

The center grounds and adjacent Delridge Playfield feature open space, trees for shade, a play area, wading pool, outdoor fitness area, a skatepark, tennis courts, soccer and baseball fields. Benches and picnic tables with BBQ pits can also be found throughout the park.

The center offers popular and unique programs across generations from preschool through senior adults. Children enjoy ballet, circus arts and Brazilian martial art Capoeira; gardening and digital media internships are popular among teens; and activities such as Zumba, NIA dance and pickleball keep adults busy.

Pickleball Conversion Pilot

Seattle Parks and Recreation's Planning and Development Division lead a pilot project to implement lining of multiple tennis court sites for pickleball. The sites were lined for shared use by both pickleball and tennis players. There were no changes made to the tennis nets. The tennis court sites were selected based on demand for more pickleball and the following feasibility criteria: accessibility, current court use, existing court conditions, and equitable distribution.

The following courts were lined for pickleball:

  • Delridge Community Center in southwest district
  • Walt Hundley Playfield in southeast district
  • Discovery Park Court in central-west district
  • Georgetown Playfield in south-central district
  • Green Lake Park in central-north district
  • Miller Community Center in central-east district
  • Soundview Playfield in northwest district
  • South Park Community Center in southwest district
