Sprayparks & Wading Pools

Closure at Delridge Monday July 26:
Delridge Wading Pool is CLOSED today due to an emergency concrete repair that requires a day to set. We apologize for the inconvenience and expect it to be open tomorrow. Please call our Wading Pool and Spraypark Hotline at (206) 684-7796 for the most up-to-date information.

2021 Schedule

Revised July 2, 2021

Wading pools and sprayparks are great ways to splash in the sun while saving water!  These water parks operate when there's no rain in the day's forecast and the air temperature is expected to be 70 degrees or higher. If unsure, you can call the Wading Pool Hotline for same-day updates at (206) 684-7796. The recording is updated by late morning each day.

Due to a regional shortage of chlorine that is just coming to the fore, SPR must make temporary adjustments to this summer's wading pool schedules. Spraypark schedules remain unaffected at this time.

For wading pools, the new schedule allows all previously-announced pools to open, but on an alternating schedule. This will enable equitable distribution of our current supply of chlorine until we can obtain more. When that occurs, our plan is to open each wading pool 7 days per week. For now, some pools will operate from Saturday to Tuesday, and some from Thursday to Sunday. For now, all wading pools will be closed on Wednesdays.

We understand how frustrating this situation is, and share in your disappointment. Rest assured that staff is working diligently to solve the matter, and know that we will update you as soon as we know more.  Please note that we have 2 outdoor pools open, 2 indoor pools open, and eight swimming beaches opening June 26.

Wading Pools Save Water!

As an element of the City's water conservation effort, we're encouraging people to use public wading pools and sprayparks rather than fill their home "kiddy pools" or run backyard sprinklers.

Hours, Weather, and Closures

We will plan to open the wading pools on sunny days when the temperature is forecast to be 70 degrees or higher. On most days we will fill them half full, which is a 50% water savings but on the busiest days they will be filled to the top!

Parks uses the average of temperature forecasts from eight weather websites to determine whether to close. When that average temperature is forecast to be below 70 degrees, Parks makes the decision not to open the wading pools or sprayparks.

Our wading pool hotline, (206) 684-7796, is updated every morning by 9:30 a.m. If the weather looks iffy, it’s the best way to find out if the wading pools and sprayparks are open for the day or not.
