Annual Recycling and Reuse Report and Recycler License

Businesses and non-profits that collect, haul, transport, or process recyclable material, including compostable material, and are located or operating in the City of Seattle must submit a complete Annual Recycling and Reuse Report and apply for or renew their Recycler License by March 31 of each year, according to Seattle Municipal Code (SMC, 6.250.080). The 2024 Recycling and Reuse Report is due March 31, 2025.

Businesses and non-profits play a vital role in Seattle reaching its waste prevention and reduction goals. Your completed Annual Recycling and Reuse Report helps inform waste reduction programs.

Based on 2023 reporting, we estimate that businesses and non-profits recycled or composted 234,704 tons of material, or 66.4% of commercial waste. The overall recycling rate for Seattle is 53.4%.
